Project Director

United States

Responsible for all of the requirements for Sr. Project Manager plus demonstrates the ability to identify key people to bring about change and understands underlying cultural dynamics to develop a network of contacts and target specific people to achieve project goals and objectives. Possesses awareness of significant contributing factors to manage project change, demonstrates a solid understanding of the end to end business processes and the critical IT dependencies as well as knowledge of additional regions and Enterprise needs . Primary duties may included, but are not limited to:

  • Manages projects across business units, regions or the enterprise
  • Influences at all levels within the organization, often setting strategy and direction; coaches and mentors project team members
  • Mentors other project managers around project management methodology
  • Determines project scope
  • Develops resource, risk, quality, cost, and scope management plans
  • Develops training plans; defines, recommends and secures contractual agreements for services and products
  • Coordinates requirements, schedules implementation and post-implement plans, and develops service-level agreements for vendor partners and global resources firms
  • Develops requirements documents
  • Develops project approval matrix
  • Identifies project team training and tool needs
  • Defines quality gates for each project methodology phase
  • Defines critical success factors; establishes and manages the project warranty period


  • BA/BS; MA preferred in related field required
  • 10 years project management experience required
  • PMP certification required
  • Experience with agile or traditional waterfall methodologies required
  • Experience in areas that support cost of care required
  • Prior anthem experience preferred
  • Ability to write to an executive audience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work with line level/executive staff
